Think you can’t afford a quality Christian education?

Think again!

Faith Christian School is committed to granting access to as many families as possible. In fact, no family at FCS pays the actual full cost of education. How do we do this? First, through the financial support of our generous donor base; second, through Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit program; third, though our endowment fund; and finally, through other supporting activities such as the FCS Gala/Silent Auction and annual Faith Walks/Serves. Thus, the true cost to educate each student has already been partially covered, and no FCS family will pay more than about 80% of this true cost in any given year. This commitment to providing an affordable education that is accessible to all Christian families is foundational to the mission of FCS.

As a result of this continued commitment, Faith Christian School proudly offers variable tuition. Tuition at Faith Christian is not “one-size-fits-all.” Instead, it’s a range that varies from 50% to 100% of the full tuition rate. The variable tuition program adjusts tuition rates based on your family’s unique financial position.

General FAQs

What is variable tuition?
Variable tuition is a need-based tuition assistance program similar to those used by many private schools, colleges, and universities. This program allows families to apply for reduced tuition that is appropriate for their unique financial situation. Thus, a Faith Christian education becomes affordable to many qualified students who could not otherwise join our school community.

How does variable tuition work?
Any family (current or new) of a kindergarten through twelfth-grade student may apply for variable tuition if they are concerned about being able to afford the full tuition rate. An application for variable tuition does not affect the re-enrollment or admission process.

It is not possible for a family or the school to estimate the tuition level for which a family qualifies without the completion of a variable tuition application. Applications are submitted directly to FACTS Financial Management, a third-party agency. FACTS evaluates the application using many factors (such as income, assets, number of dependents, unusual expenses, etc.) and makes a recommendation to the school’s finance committee. Families are notified of the tuition level for which they qualify from the school’s financial office.

Unfortunately, the school is not able to approve a reduced variable tuition rate to every deserving student. We work within the available resources to make the school accessible to as many students and families as possible.

Do I need to first apply to Faith Christian School before I know if I qualify for a reduced variable tuition rate?

No, you may first apply online for the variable tuition program. There is a non-refundable fee incurred from FACTS, our third party processor. Your variable tuition results are contingent on your acceptance to FCS and are given in advance purely to assist parents in the decision making process.

Upon completion of my variable tuition application, when will I know if I qualify for a reduced tuition rate?
Typically, you will be notified within 2 weeks of providing all the required information to our confidential third-party service, FACTS Financial Management.

What is the cost to apply for variable tuition?

Applications are submitted directly to FACTS Financial Management, a third-party agency. FACTS charges $40 for a variable tuition evaluation.

FAQs for Prospective Parents

Should every new Faith Christian family submit an application for variable tuition?
No. Only families who feel they may not be able to pay the full tuition rate should submit an application.

Do I need to apply for variable tuition every year?
Yes. A new application must be submitted annually for as long as is appropriate, since financial situation details will change from year to year.

If I do not qualify for the program this year, can I apply again next year?
Yes. A family that does not qualify is welcome to reapply the following year.

Do I need to apply for admission separately from applying for variable tuition?
Yes. For new students, application to Faith Christian School and application for the variable tuition program are two separate processes. However, new families may complete both application processes simultaneously.

Will applying for variable tuition hurt my student’s chance of being admitted to the school?
No. Admission applications and variable tuition applications are evaluated separately, and an application for variable tuition has no bearing on the admission process.

What kind of economic situation is typical of a family who qualifies for variable tuition?
A wide range of families with a variety of circumstances qualify for the program, from those who are able to pay close to the top tuition rate to those who are at the entry level of the range. Many factors are evaluated, including income, assets, unusual expenses, and number of dependents.

Are some families awarded full tuition?
No. Every family is required to make a financial investment in their child’s education. Our commitment to providing variable tuition means that we are sharing in that investment with you.

Do all students accepted for admission receive variable tuition rates if the family qualifies?
No. Unfortunately, the school does not have the ability to offer variable tuition to every student who qualifies for both admission and variable tuition. A student may be admitted to the school but placed on a waiting list for variable tuition. It is recommended that families apply for variable tuition as early as possible.

Will variable tuition lead to larger classes?
No. The Faith Christian School Board of Directors has established maximum class sizes that cannot be surpassed. Within those limits, we will continue to accept qualified, mission-appropriate students.
