Admissions Process

The primary reason for the existence of FCS is to provide a quality Christ-centered education for children of Christian families. The relationship of the school and the home is critical since the school views itself as an extension of the Christian home in discharging its Biblical responsibilities for the training of children. A Christian family is one that believes and is committed to the Scriptural principles that are the basis of our Statement of Faith, Philosophy and teaching objectives.

Admission is limited to families in which at least one parent agrees with the Statement of Faith or where the student has accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior with a strong desire to attend FCS and where the parents are not hostile to their enrollment and agree to be cooperative with the philosophy and objectives of the school.

Application Procedure

An application for enrollment is properly made when the application form provided by the school is completed and returned with the appropriate non-refundable application fee to the school. Consult the Financial Information Statement for the application fee schedule. This fee is in addition to tuition and other fees. No child will be assigned a position on the enrollment list until the above properly completed form and fee has been received.

An interview by applicant’s family shall be completed prior to acceptance by the school in order to determine the parent’s commitment and belief in the Scriptural principles, which are the basis of the Statement of Faith, Philosophy and teaching objectives.

Student applicants may be required to attend the interview if enrolling in the elementary grades, but student applicants in grades 7-12 are required to be present at the interview.

Admission Considerations

The applicant’s previous educational achievement, patterns of behavior and learning potential shall be considered important factors for enrollment consideration. Applicants will be tested by FCS before admission will be granted. In the case of transfer students, complete official records from the applicant’s previous school will be required.

Since FCS is a corporation and a parent operated school, Christian parents are encouraged to become active members of the Faith Christian School Association.

A probationary period of one marking period for all new students will be required prior to final acceptance. If, after reviewing the student’s probationary period, the student has not met the school’s spiritual, academic, physical or emotional standards, an additional probationary period or the possible request for withdrawal of the student will be required. The principal will notify the parents in writing at the end of each marking period until the student is removed from probationary status.

Newly enrolling students and all children entering as well as those students wishing to participate in sports must have a physical examination. A form, which is provided by the school, must be filled in by the examining physician and returned to the school. Other medical requirements by the State of Pennsylvania will be required of all students while attending FCS.

Tuition Grant information and applications are available in the school office.

Re-enrollment

Re-enrollment applications for pupils who have outstanding tuition balances from the prior year will not be accepted unless the School Board grants special permission.

Re-enrollment deadline is March 15th. Thereafter, applications will be considered in groups received as of the last day of each calendar month through August. (Parents will be notified as soon as a definite determination has been made by the Administration). Applications received in each calendar month will be evaluated as a group according to the guidelines stated in the admission’s policy.

Acceptance will be determined on the basis of the school’s determination regarding the following:
1. The best course to follow in terms of the benefit of each applicant.
AND
2. The best interests of the school.

Non-Discrimination Policy

Faith Christian School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national, or ethnic origin administration of its educational policies, athletic and other school administered programs.

The educational philosophy of Faith Christian School is based on the fact that all truth is God’s truth and each student must be brought into a vital living relationship with God in all areas of life including mental, physical, spiritual and social.

It is the intent of Faith Christian School to assist parents in fulfilling this Biblical mandate, and their conviction, in educating and training their children with the understanding that this is a shared ministry.
