“Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music; make music to the Lord…” Psalm 98: 4, 5
At Faith Christian School, students are taught to ‘make music to the Lord’ beginning in Kindergarten and continuing through high school, preparing them for a post-high school music education. Music is viewed as a God-given gift to humanity. Our music education program strives to build skills that steward this gift for God’s glory by exploring melody, rhythm, form, expression, timbre, texture, and harmony in music. Through vocal development and introduction to pitched and non-pitched percussion instruments, students develop an appreciation for genres of music from many different cultures.
Lower Elementary Music (K – 2nd grades)
Students receive music instruction twice a week to include basic music literacy and appreciation skills. Budding musicians in Kindergarten through second grade gain exposure to a wide variety of musical styles, genres, languages, and instruments through general music classes. They are introduced to melody, rhythm, form, expression, timbre, texture, and harmony in music. Through vocal development and introduction to pitched and non-pitched percussion instruments, students develop an appreciation for genres of music from many different cultures. In addition, students in K–5th grades stage a musical presentation at Christmas and in the spring.
Upper Elementary Music (3rd – 5th grades)
