Kindergarten – Success Starts Here
Kindergarten is a time of exploration, wonder, and preparation. Five-year-olds are little sponges, soaking up information and learning from their experiences. In Kindergarten class, learning and fun are interwoven through individual and group thematic activities that encourage students to speak, listen, share, and observe. In addition to learning math, reading, and writing, it’s also an important time to practice the skills they’re going to need in elementary school and beyond — communication, relationship building, problem-solving, self-discipline, and self-regulation. Kindergarten days are filled with fun and joy — lots of movement, music, and play — as well as time for calm and quiet. It’s the perfect balance of independent instruction and small group collaboration.

At Faith Christian School, elementary students are encouraged to do their best and to participate. Students’ efforts, study habits, and personal development of values, such as responsibility, respect, cooperation, and honesty, are as important as subject content. We are committed to helping students discover new things and teaching them to love learning.
Academic Overview
Faith Christian School’s Kindergarten program is a great fit for your child’s inquisitive and growing personality. FCS’ environment will capture their imagination while teaching them key fundamentals creating a love of learning. Kindergarten provides our youngest learners with a solid foundation for their academic, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being and prepares them for first grade. Faith is a place where your child will be loved and known; where they will learn from a biblical worldview and see Christian character modeled for them every day.
Faith Christian School believes in a strong partnership between school and home. Prior to your child’s first day of Kindergarten you’ll meet with their teacher for Kindergarten orientation giving us the opportunity to learn about your child from the people who know them best — you. We’ll meet, at minimum, twice more throughout the year during Parent/Teacher Conferences to ensure we’re all on the same page about your child’s development and progress. Careful attention is paid to your child’s growth and learning to ensure your child is learning the right material at the right time. Teachers track student development and share their findings with you through quarterly reports.
Kindergarten is located in our Lower Elementary building (K-Grade 2) on the Lincoln Avenue side of our Roseto campus.
Educational Approach
Five year olds are sponges, soaking up information and learning through instruction, play, and their experiences. You will be amazed as your little ones skills in reading, writing, and arithmetic grow and they will enjoy showing off their new skills.
Kindergarten is also an important time for them to hone their communication skills, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, and learn how to build relationships by showing compassion for others and self-control.
A day in the life of a Kindergartener is full of laughter, lots of movement, music, and play – as well as time to be calm and quiet while developing and practicing their new academic skills.
Come see why so many Monroe and Northampton County families choose Faith Christian’s Kindergarten program.
A Challenging Curriculum: For language development, Kindergarten takes a multisensory approach to everything from phonemic awareness to comprehension. We incorporate different techniques to build proficiency in reading and writing. Math uses visual models to help simplify complex concepts for better comprehension and retention. Hands-on lessons in science open up a whole new world for kindergarten students. As they explore the beauty and diversity in God’s creation, they learn to make their own observations and develop analytical skills. In social studies, they learn about communities, community helpers who serve and protect us, and their responsibilities as good citizens.
Social and Emotional Learning: Kindergarten and through the elementary years are a time of great emotional growth. When students learn how to manage feelings and relationships, they gain emotional intelligence, a key trait for success in school and life. Dedicated time for small group activities throughout the day helps students practice skills that are critical for continued success in school, such as sharing, taking turns, sitting still, and not interrupting. Time for independent activities helps foster self-reliance and improve self-regulation.
Christ-Centered learning: Faith believes God’s claim in every subject, not just in biblical studies/chapel. The overall purpose of a Faith Christian education is to encourage students to use their heads, hearts, and hands for God and to use discernment to create a worldview that is formed through the lens of faith. Every teacher is a strong Christian who is dedicated to being a role model and mentor for students by showing them love and grace every day, modeling kindness and compassion, and proclaiming God’s love and salvation to them.
Age Appropriate Technology Use: As technology continues to be a prominent tool for learning and living, Faith Christian kindergartners use it responsibly and under the guidance of their teachers. Promethean Boards are in every classroom, making interactive instruction accessible to all students. Chromebooks are used in focused, small groups for short periods of time for differentiated skill practice.
